Having an arrest record can limit an individual's right to employment, housing, and voting. And when arrest records are spread throughout the community, the effect is devastating. The Arrest Expungement Clinic (AEC) was formed to aid eligible community members remove not guilty arrest records. Many who have been arrested may be eligible to have their records sealed or expunged, but they simply do not know how to get started or cannot afford legal fees. AEC has developed a system to determine initial eligibility by taking the preliminary screening process out of the hands of the attorneys and connecting individuals with pro bono or low cost legal services. We want to impact the community by creating a pathway for those held back by their past.
